Why I love Yin Yoga and why you might too:
• It stimulates and compresses connective tissue; this means it’s great for relieving tension in the hips and lower back, promoting hip flexibility.
• It provides an opportunity to explore posture/organ health from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective.
• It is a great bridge between physical postures preparing the body and mind for the physical and mental practice of meditation. It works with breathing techniques and focused, present attention to access the alpha-theta brainwave state that is both relaxed and alert, promoting creative thinking, balanced mind and encouraging a good night’s sleep.
• It cools down the nervous system by connecting to the rest and digest parasympathetic nervous system through breath, sound and staying still in posture. This is also great for our immune system.
