Joanna has always been intrigued and curious about the mysterious and mystical side of life, as well as having a deep love of nature.
After experiencing a very traumatic and violent relationship in her late teens, in her early 20s she was guided to the hands-on energy healing practise of Reiki. This proved to be an incredibly profound and deeply healing start to an ongoing journey of learning a myriad of practises within the realms of energy healing and energy medicine. And as she healed herself from the deep wounds of violent trauma, she began to share her newly acquired skills with others. And so, a healer was born !
As she began to learn the art of divination using Tarot cards, she also honed herskill as a hands-on healer, swiftly working her way through the training levels to Reiki Master in the year of the millennium, the year 2000. She has now been teaching Reiki for 17 years !
Reiki then lead her to learning about crystals, as she was guided to start using them within her Reiki healing work. She decided that she needed to understand better how these pretty little inanimate objects could make such a powerful difference to an energy healing session, and so she did a two year crystal practitioner diploma with the Hazel Raven College of Bio-dynamics, which shecompleted in 2006.
This lead her to begin a dance with Shamanism. From 2006 to 2009, she spent 3 years as a Shamanic Apprentice with the Centre for Shamanic Arts, which gave her a very thorough grounding in ceremonial shamanic practise. This time took her into even deeper levels of herself and her own healing journey.
From 2009 to 2010, she undertook training in Core Shamanic Healing techniques with the Sacred Trust, which focused more on one-to-one therapeutic Shamanic Healing work. Since then, she has practised these arts, helping many people with all sorts of issues, ranging through physical, emotional, mental and spiritual issues.
She has a special love of working with women, and specialises in working with women who have experienced trauma from domestic violence, sexual violence and obstetric violence.
Over the last 5 years she has freebirthed 3 children, and so has been learning one of the hardest but most amazing lessons; that of motherhood. This has lead to working with many women around fertility, preparation for pregnancy and post-natal support, as well as nourishing exhausted mothers !!
If I wasn’t a healer, I’d be a… pirate queen, sailing the high seas and having adventures !!
My favourite place in Yorkshire is… Almscliffe Crag
