Seeking relief from lower back pain that began in her teens, Sarah had her first yoga lesson at 18. At first feeling nervous and frustrated that her limbs wouldn’t do what they were told, after a couple of classes she began to find a deep sense of calm, increased energy and reconnection with her body. Her first teacher showed her that yoga practice can be full of childlike fun, joy and curiosity and she has taken that through to her teaching too. She also had a very strong emotional response to one class, looking back she now knows that was the moment when the work she was doing with her body had started to impact her emotional and mental state, and eventually led to her leaving a very unhealthy relationship.
Thirteen years later her yoga practice continues to support her through life’s trials – most recently the birth of her first child and the passing of her mother just a month later. Sarah believes that yoga practice can support all people dealing with life’s stresses – be it pressure from studying, family life, business stress, loss or dealing with trauma, we all need the time and space to move, breathe, and allow the mind/body to strengthen, rest and recover.
Sarah teaches the Beginners Yoga on a Wednesday 8-9pm and offers one-to-one yoga sessions on request.
