We ensure we reflect this diversity in our timetable, which is why we have everything from HIIT to Restorative. And now, to help ensure we are always clear about what to expect from a class (to help you find the perfect class) we’re dividing classes into different levels.
Why does this matter?
If you make sure you go to the right level for your practice or your energy level (yes you can be a long time yogi and go to a level 1 class if you want to chill) then you’ll never feel frustrated that you felt either out of your depth or like you’re not being challenged. Plus your practice will progress with the best foundations possible.
Here is a guide to our levels, have a read and make sure you choose the right class (if you’re not sure if you’re ready to move on, just ask your teacher!!):
This is a class for absolute beginners to yoga (or beginners to a style of yoga like ashtanga).
In this class you will get the proper support for the foundations of your practice. Time will be taken to properly work on alignment of the basics you’ll use in all classes, like downward dog and warrior postures. Once you’re feeling comfortable with the beginner class the aim is to move on to a level 1 class (this is not a class to stay at forever as you’ll be going over the same detail over and over again!)
This is our moving on level class (or a class where you know it will be a slower, calmer practice). You’ve done some yoga before, maybe one of our beginners classes and you’re ready for the next stage, OR you’ve got a regular yoga practice but are looking for something relaxing.
In this class there won’t be the focus on alignment of basic postures, it will be expected that you know this so that the class flows with breath and you can connect with your body.
This is a more challenging class, for those that are more confident with yoga and fitness. You will be invited to try more challenging flows (of course we don’t expect you will be able to do everything, just be ready and willing to try), it might be a class with a faster pace, and is perfect for those who are now looking to really develop their skills.
This level of practice will be largely supported through specialist workshops.
